Pokemon Presents was undermarketed: There were a lot of Pokemon fans who didn’t know about the news at first. The Pokemon Company officially unveiled pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet on Sunday morning. They are the next main series releases in the Pokemon series.
The Pokemon Company has said that they haven’t been promoting the event because of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine as much. They either didn’t know there was a Pokemon Presents event, or they didn’t think it would be so big. A good reason for that, though.
Stephen Totilo, an Axios reporter, says that The Pokemon Company’s public relations team has officially said that the decision was correct. The team said it wanted to be “aware of major world events and those affected by them.”
With that in mind, it cut down on the amount of advertising for the event. So that fans could participate in it if they wanted to. Rather than making it a big deal for the industry and taking away from more important news.
It might be hard for some people to understand why the Pokemon Company would do this.
Pokemon Presents was undermarketed
A response to that question also given, but it didn’t specify. The Pokemon Company says that the Pokemon Presents event was “planned” and could not change. The Pokemon Company must have been planning for this day for a long time. February 27 known as Pokemon Day worldwide because that’s when Pocket Monsters: Red and Green first came out in Japan in 1996.
The Pokemon Company’s efforts to cut back on promotion had a big impact on the reach of today’s Pokemon Presents event. It won’t be as well-known as it would have been if more people talked about it.
That will almost certainly made up over time through word of mouth in the Pokemon fan community, though, and through the rest of 2022 as the marketing for Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet starts to pick up.
From a material point of view, the Pokemon Company’s decision isn’t very important. But from a human point of view, the significance of the decision must respected. If all the decision does is show the Pokemon Company’s feelings about what’s going on in the world, that’s more than enough. This means that the Pokemon Company has its heart in the right place.
They will be fine, of course, in the future as well. Even though it was very simple, today’s announcement did everything it needed to do to tell Pokemon fans what the games are and when they can expect them to come out. Hopefully, world events will be less important in the months to come.
