The Destiny 2 Witch Queen Expansion:  The Witch Queenexpansion sets the stage for a new season of seasonal content that players can enjoy in Destiny 2.

The expansion will provide players with a brand new game with six players inside Savathun’s Throne World.   Though the season-specific activity for Season of the Risen is not yet revealed.

A new leak suggests Battlegrounds, the seasonal event that was part of one of 2021’s more popular seasons, will carry if it’s released—Witch Queen and Season of the Risen release.

The Witch Queen is the fourth major expansion for the game and will see guardians fight against the Hive God of Cunning Savathun, who has been infected with Light.

Guardians must venture into the Queen’s Throne World to uncover how she snatched the Light to fight the queen and her Hive guardians. Who light-powered, of the Lucent Brood and regain the Light.

The battle will continue in the Season of the Risen. Which will see Zavala call for assistance from Cabal Empress Caiatl during the ongoing fighting against the Lucent Brood.

The leak suggests that players will receive new Battlegrounds maps once Season of the Risen and The Witch Queen and Season of the Risen start on February 22nd. The leak is coming via Twitter user Liz The Destiny Leaks.

The Destiny 2 Witch Queen Expansion

She claims the three new maps will make available to explore. They did not provide specific information on what the new Battlegrounds could include.

Battlegrounds first came into play during the Season of the Chosen. Where guardians first encountered Empress Caiatl as her people force to leave their homeworld due to Hive invasion.

The season’s event threw three players who were match-made into four different areas across Nessus. And the Cosmodrome and Europa to stop the Cabal’s efforts to fight. It was among the most popular seasonal modes and the general chaos of the battle and greater enemy concentration.

Since Season of the Risen will focus on Cabal. It makes sense that Bungie could be considering Battlegrounds as an option with modifications to make it more narrative-friendly.

This could mean swapping the antagonist Cabal in exchange for the Hive, reflecting the new alliance formed with Capital in opposition to Savathun’s Lucent Brood and injecting a bit of freshness into the action.

If the leak that has been circulating is real. It raises the question of whether the newly added Battlegrounds will be the main feature in the coming seasons. Or just be an additional expansion feature.

If it’s an additional feature within the Witch Queen in addition to any other activities Season of the Risen entails, this is a benefit for players because they’ll have another grind way to grind right out of the start.

Destiny 2. is accessible via PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
