Horizon Forbidden West’s Reptilian Robots: Guerrilla has showcased some incredible brand new equipment in Horizon Forbidden West, but the reptile-inspired models are the most thrilling.

Guerrilla presented fans with a brand new game trailer featuring Horizon Forbidden West at the 2021 Game Awards, and it was a hit.

Horizon fans haven’t had a chance to see any new footage since the first gameplay trailer debuted about six months ago. Still, with this new trailer, players will have an idea of what they can expect to see in forbidden West combat will look like on the battlefield and, of course, what brand new technology Aloy will be fighting.

The machines featured in Horizon Zero Dawn were incredible; however, Forbidden West has already massively expanded the catalog of devices.

Many of the machines in Zero Dawn will return; however, fans have already seen a collection of 10 new devices from the trailers and footage of the game.

Guerrilla has probably kept the most exciting surprises to themselves. However, this is a good sign of the machines to come. These latest Forbidden Westmachines are varied, but there’s an emphasis upon reptiles this go, and it looks like they’ll be the best of the best.

Explaining All the Confirmed Reptilian Machines in Forbidden West

As of now, fans have seen ten new vehicles that Aloy will meet during his journey to The forbidden West. Out of these ten, more than half are inspired by reptiles.

This is not even including the Snapmaw one that resembles an alligator, which is confirmed to be returning. The new reptiles spotted are the Tideripper, Shellsnapper, Clawstrider, Sunwing, and an astonishing-looking, unnamed cobra.

Tideripper Tideripper is modeled on the plesiosaur, a sea dinosaur with a long neck.

The Tideripper is a bit alike to the Pokemon’s Lapras and The Loch Ness monster; both have a similar design which is why that could be the first thought to pop into your thoughts.

Like the Snapmaw and the Snapmaw, the Tideripper can take on Aloy underwater and was specially designed for this goal. However, underwater exploration will play a significant role in Forbidden West, so some new and intimidating equipment needs to be under the water.

The Shellsnapper is a creature that resembles an enormous snapping turtle is shown in the first trailer of the announcement trailer for Horizon Forbidden West.

In that trailer, the Shellsnapper appeared unassuming and did not attack Aloy. Shellsnappers may be dormant for weeks and can be disguised by nature. However, they’re also fiercely combative, which is appropriate considering the dangers snapping turtles could be.

Shellsnappers in the new gameplay trailer look a lot more deadly. Shellsnapper in the new gameplay trailer appears much more combative and is one of the most stunningly designed models unveiled so far.

Despite being a turtle, the Shellsnapper can be extremely swift and leap fantastic distances to strike.

It is believed that the Clawstrider and Sunwing are smaller models that Aloy is likely to encounter during Forbidden West. The Clawstrider is believed to be one of the vehicles Aloy can ride.

It is like a velociraptor—a smaller but brilliant kind of dinosaur. Clawstriders are observant, aggressive, and appear to fight in groups. The Sunwing keeps the theme of dinosaurs in motion and resembles the flying Pterosaurs (a family of dinosaurs that include The Pterodactyl). Sunwing could be Forbidden west’s variant that of Zero Dawn’sGlinthawks.

The latest Forbidden West gameplay trailer revealed a mysterious machine with an enormous cobra. From all the devices that have been shown to date, the cobra could be the most visually impressive to date.

The smooth and fluid animation that the snake’s mechanical limbs are circling a crumbling tower is breathtaking and quite different from the other machines from Horizon.

Horizon series that has been revealed to date. Cobras are famous for their speed and attack range, but the speed of this massive snake is undoubtedly crazy, and it could be among the most deadly machines in the Forbidden West. In other words, Bring it on.

Horizon Forbidden West is Leaning into its Dinosaur-Related Reputation

At least six reptilian robots were confirmed to be on the screen in Forbidden West. The majority of them are drawn from dinosaurs. The majority of Horizon Zero Dawn machines can draw inspiration from a particular animal that is their source of inspiration.

For example, the Sawtooth looks like a tiger, and the Corruptor is akin to scorpions.

A few models featured in Horizon Zero Dawn were in the style of dinosaurs. Unfortunately, they were mainly in the mold of mammals, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Horizon Zero Dawn from being praised as an RPG in which players battle robot dinosaurs.

It’s not entirely true that Thunderjaws, like the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Watchers, is somewhat like small theropod dinosaurs; however, Forbidden West’s dinosaur origins are apparent.

It seems that Forbidden West has taken this relationship in the right direction by offering players real dinosaurs to fight against more modern reptiles.

The location of Forbidden West also provides an excellent sense in terms of the reptilian theme. Horizon Forbidden West is set on the West Coast of the former United States, so that Aloy will spend a lot of time in the ocean and other aquatic bodies.

Many reptiles reside near water bodies like alligators, snakes, and lizards; therefore, it could be one reason that there is a more significant number of these kinds of animals. There is a distinct environment, and each one requires special machines that make unique contributions to the environment.

Other Machines in Horizon Forbidden West

Although reptiles are thoroughly featured within Horizon Forbidden West, they aren’t the only impressive and terrifying machines Aloy will face.

Some of the most challenging machinery come from Horizon Zero Dawn, such as Ravagers, Stormbirds, and Thunderjaws is expected to make a comeback for Forbidden West precisely as you would expect as well. But, of course, there are plenty of brand new machines, too.

So so far, players have seen Bristleback and the Burrower. Clamberjaw is an unnamed machine that resembles an armadillo and the terrifying Tremortusk. With the release of Horizon Forbidden West just a few weeks away, it’s plenty of space for Guerrilla to show off even other machines. Or keep them as surprise items.

Curiosity has always been one of the primary motivators for Horizon. There is nothing more exciting than seeing a brand new machine for the first time, which is why Guerrilla will not leave anything to chance the experience for its fans.

There’s certainly plenty to anticipate with Forbidden West, but the reptiles have taken over the show at this point. Of everything else, they’re more new and exciting and will bring fans who dream of fighting real robot dinosaurs in ways that Horizon Zero Dawn could not.

Horizon Forbidden West releases on February 18, 2022, for PS4 and PS5.
