FFXIV modder turns Fat Cat plush into a saddle controller.
While some Final Fantasy XIV mounts show a particular feat that you’ve accomplished, the easiest mounts to obtain can be just as popular due to how over the top they are. Take the Fat Cat mount for example – it’s fat and it’s a cat.
That is excellent. This amount is so tremendous that Square Enix sells a huge plush version at the Shop, which a fan has now decided to turn into a controller, taking us back to where we started.
YouTuber Louis ‘Super Louis 64’ Hamilton He explains that the way it all works is pretty simple: his Warrior of Light jumps on his mount when he sits on the stuffed animal and then jumps if Hamilton gets off his Fat Cat.
If you want to get technical, Hamilton has woven some sensors into a blanket that triggers an in-game macro when he sits on or gets off the stuffed animal.
“That’s pretty much it!” he explains on Twitter. “The dash is wide open for adding joysticks, buttons, and what not if I want to go one step further for a Fat Cat battle controller, but we’ll see!”
Hamilton has now manufactured several controllers related to FFXIV. The modder ran through Eorzea in two hours using the Ring Fit Adventure controller and plugged in an Xbox Kinect to dance while playing the Dancer job. If you want to relax sitting on a Fat Cat plushie, we think you’ve earned it.
