Elden Ring Leaks Hints about Removed Crystal Ball Item: Games like FromSoftware’s Elden Ring take a lot of time, money, and many people to make. The problem is that none of these resources are unlimited, so developers often have to make compromises if they want to make their games come out on time and within budget.
Because of this, game developers often leave many things on the cutting room floor.
However, not all content that has “dummied out” is gone. Modders and data miners can still find bits and pieces hidden in the code. This is the case with St.
Trina’s Crystal Ball cut from the Elden Ring at some point during development.
EvilCookie, an Elden Ring modding Discord member, found the item description in the code.
Twitter user JesterPatches shared it in a tweet. Both an icon and what the Crystal Ball’s in-game description would have looked like have found. It would have let people get a crafting ingredient called Dream Mist from sleeping people.
According to the item’s lore blurb, Dream Mist use to make potent Flasks of Wonderous Physick, a type of potion in Elden Ring, which was very strong. It’s unclear what the Dream Mist would have done, but the text suggests that it caused a frenzy.
In addition, the item description says that the crystal ball mark with the symbol of St. Trina, an unknown person whose name appears on many other items in the game. There is a carving on the right side of the ball that looks like St. Trina herself.
It looks like Trina’s Lily on the top of the ball, too, one commenter said. They say that Lilies use to make things that thought to be symbols for the saint, so it makes sense that they would use them in the design of this item.
However, it said that the crystal is not the only piece of canned content about Elden Ring‘s unknown saint. People who follow St. Trina in the game’s lore can’t agree on whether their saint was a woman or a young man. Only that they mysteriously vanished long before the game’s events took place.
However, it said that a cut quest would have shown that St. Trina is Miquela, one of the god-descended Empyreans from Elden Ring. If the cut quest had been successful, it would also have solved the mystery of Miquela, who was “sleeping” but still alive, it said, even though it isn’t clear whether any of this information is still valid.
As for what the Crystal Ball was supposed to use for, one fan thinks that it would have used to fill a Bestiary in the game. However, in Elden Ring’s files, 128 icons aren’t use.
They show 64 enemies and NPCs. Each icon has a light and dark version, which some fans of the Elden Ring think would have been “discovered” and “undiscovered” entries, or something like that, in the game or something like that. However, there isn’t any proof that the cut icons and St. Trina’s Crystal Ball link.
