The gaming community almost ended up putting off Ready or Not when a post on Reddit in which users asked, “Should Ready or Not have a school shooting mission?” received a response from an official from the game’s developer that said, “You better believe it’s gonna.”

VOID Interactive has since parted from Team 17 and discussed the school shooting incident.
After announcing the breakup together with Team 17, VOID Interactive tweeted, “VOID Interactive along with Team17 have come to an agreement that Team17 will cease publishing Ready or Not.
We believe this is the best path to take for the next chapter of Ready or Not, and we would like to thank Team17 for their collaboration and wish them a lot of success in their range in games!”
