Final Fantasy XIV’s 24-hour maintenance is extended by one hour: The wait for maintenance to conclude is the worst part of playing an MMO. But since it prolong by more than an hour, a whole day’s worth of maintenance made worse for Final Fantasy XIV fans.
The Lodestone, Final Fantasy XIV’s central hub, and community portal were unavailable for more than 26 hours due to the website maintenance, which worsened by the addition of one hour.
The maintenance included applying patch 6.18 for FFXIV. Two significant modifications make in this ostensibly minor patch: the dispersal of Data Centers and the inclusion of Data Center travel.
Due to the complexity of these server-based adjustments, 24 hours of maintenance was necessary. In contrast, patch maintenance often lasts five to six hours (often overnight) and complete earlier than expected.
The 26+ hours of maintenance were thus exceptional. Players inform of the problems via the official Final Fantasy XIV news.
Players who couldn’t wait to join new servers or test the new Data Center transit method were still eager.
When conditions are ideal, waiting for maintenance to complete is like staying in a queue at a theme park. However, it may be unpleasant when there are new things to appreciate.
Fortunately, as of this writing, it seems that the repair finish. So there is no longer any waiting, and players are using the new cross-Data Center transit mechanism.
