Exotic Mod Slots in Destiny 2 Will Never Be Available: The game Destiny 2 Exotic weaponry is generally thought to be the highest level of its genre.
While Legendary weapons typically have fewer perks, which may not as effective as Exotics. Legendaries do benefit from working with mods. Something Exotic weapons will not be able to do, as per Proctor.
Bungie’s staff designer Chris Proctor has gone on the record to discuss specific changes being made into the game after the release of the Witch Queen DLC.
One of the most critical pieces of information revealed was that Exotic weapons will not getting mod slots. And could be a cause of discontent for specific players.
Mod slot on Exotics discuss during a recent podcast in which Proctor participated. When asked why Exotic weapons do not have mod slots, Proctor said that opening Exotics to modding will cause game-breaking glitches in Destiny 2.
The specific examples he offered were Icarus Grip attached to Ace of Spades and Ace of Spades. Which will significantly enhance the hand cannon’s mid-air precision.

Similarly, placing Backup Mag on Hawkmoon would likely cause the damage stacking Exotic perk.
In that sense, it appears that modding remains within the realm of Destiny 2‘s Legendary-tier weapons.
The latter is further boosted by introducing the weapon crafting tool within The Witch Queen DLC.
As per Proctor, Exotics design to serve a different purpose in mind instead of Legendaries. They include curated perks that tend to be more effective than those available in Legendaries. So, adding mods aren’t a possibility.
It’s also important to keep in mind that some Exotics can modify in Weapon crafting. According to an earlier TWAB blog article, several of the newly released Witch Queen Exotics expected to offer a bit of personalization and customization, with an example of the Osteo Striga SMG serving as the most obvious illustration of this.
Alongside the regular Legendary weapons like hand cannons, auto rifles, sidearms, and others. Bungie has also revealed that the new Glaive weapon is the first weapon players create in the Witch Queen.
Glaives expect to offer with both Legendary and Exotic types. Although it’s not clear what kind of customization is possible for Exotic Glaives. There aren’t any mods for them, but they are getting mods.
Destiny 2 is available across PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series platforms, with its Witch Queen DLC due out in February.
