A Magcargo and Torterra sprite animation by a Pokemon fan: There are around 900 different Pokemon to play with, many fans have found ways to twist these well-known creatures. Some fans make their Pokemon designs.
Some reimagine existing Pokemon, and some combine two or more designs into fusions to make new Pokemon. Pokemon fan Magcargo and Torterra combined in a sprite animation recently shared by one of them.
Tradition: Making Pokemon fusions has been going on for a long time. It started with the first game. If you’re a fan of Pokemon, this game lets you follow your creative impulses.
It also reveals hidden design elements of the Pokemon style and pushes the limits of what gamers can expect from real Pokemon games. Some of these creatures have been used in Pokemon fan games.
Reddit user KattenGamerKG shared a looping sprite animation that looks like a mix of Magcargo and Torterra. It’s done in the style of the original Pokemon sprites from Gen 4.

Torterra is the last evolution of Turtwig, one of the three starter Pokemon that can find in Sinnoh. This is also true for Magcargo, which is the evolution of Slugma, which was first seen in Gen 2. With Torterra being a Grass/Ground-type and Magcargo being a Fire/Rock-type, their fusion looks different.
When KattenGamerKG combines Torterra and Magcargo, its main body structure seems to come from Torterra, while the elemental aesthetic of the eye, the shape of the tail, and the shape of the seat all come from Magcargo.
Design: This makes Magcargo look like a creature with legs that are the same rocky grey color as its shell. Most people think of Torterra as having brown, wood-like limbs sticking out from under its grass-covered cover. The creature’s shell made of rock, and the spikes on its head become small volcanoes.
It also shows its head, tail, and parts of its body under its shell being bathed in a steady stream of bright orange lava.
This Pokemon fusion looks a lot like Torterra, but it has a lot more of a lava theme, suggesting its type is different from Torterra’s. Many things look like grass, rocks, and lava in this animal’s design.
Based on the original Pokemon’s type, it looks like this fusion would be Grass/Fire-type. The fact that there aren’t any Grass/Fire-type Pokemon in the Pokemon games might be interesting to people who play them.
If this is the case, it might be because Grass-type Pokemon are weak to fire, and fire-types are vulnerable to water. There is at least one Fire/Water-type Pokemon out there.
